The Real Madrid defender has finally had his say on claims which suggest that he failed a drug test after the 2017 Champions League final.

Sergio Ramos has responded to allegations of him breaking doping regulations on two separate occasions. A report in German publication Der Spiegel indicates that the current Real Madrid skipper tested positive for a banned substance following Madrid's triumph over Juventus in the 2017 Champions League.

However, the defender was purportedly left off the hook after UEFA accepted an 'apology' from Real Madrid on his behalf. The report states that the club - in its plea - provided an explanation to justify the result of Ramos' test and implored the European football governing body not to fully probe the case.

Following Real Madrid's shock 3-0 defeat to Eibar on Saturday, Sergi Ramos released official statements on his Twitter page debunking the doping allegations. Excerpts from his account read as follows: "It's a complicated issue," the Spanish defender asserted.

"My legal team will deal with these accusations like Real Madrid and UEFA did yesterday.

"Throughout my professional career, I've passed more than 300 drug tests and I've never breached anything.

"The outlet warned us a month and a half ago, threatening to publish the news, and we knew it would come out.

"However, given we had the truth at home because we were calm, we weren't afraid.

"Obviously I'll be taking action because they've tried to smear my name and status. In 15 years I've never refused an anti-doping control.

"Those who have put these matters on the table know I didn't anything illegal. If I've shown something positive in my career, it's always been during work hours.

"I've been on the crest of a wave for a long time and I've enjoyed riding it. Anyone who doesn't like that can do one."

Sergio Ramos's statement comes after both Real Madrid and UEFA addressed the issue on Friday.
