El Diego has a few more words for Sergio Ramos.

The war of words between Diego Maradona and Sergio Ramos was rekindled after the former hit back at the Spanish captain for his jibe about Lionel Messi being the greatest Argentinian player. The proclamation was provoked as a result of Maradona claiming that Sergio Ramos was a "great captain but not a star player".

"When people talk about stars, they told me – and I do not want to enter into controversy – they told me: 'Ramos is a star,'" Maradona was quoted as saying by the Independent.

"No, Godín is a star that defends you, that rules, that creates you a goal, who is a champion, that does not miss a game."

"He [Sergio Ramos] is a great player, he is a great captain, he can become a good leader, as we see in Real Madrid, but not a star player.

Infuriated by Maradona's assertion, the 32-year-old defender also came back with a rebutta of his ownl:

"In Argentina they know that Maradona is light years away from the best Argentine player in history, which for me is Lionel Messi."

According to Spanish paper AS, Diego Maradona - who is clearly refusing to back down - has aimed another dig at the 2010 World Cup winner despite apologizing for his prior statement.

"If Sergio Ramos wants, I apologize, but I will not change my purely football thinking," the 57-year-old is quoted as saying by the paper.

"I do not care what they say and I think freely. Therefore, if Sergio was offended, I apologize, but I still think the same."

It's safe to say that these two are not letting this go anytime soon.
