The Bundesliga dinosaur is gone! For the first time in its 54-year history, the German top flight will not have Hamburg taking part of football's top tier category in the country.
The home side needed to win against Borussia Mönchengladbach in order to keep their chances to avoid relegation alive. Nevertheless, a win by Wolfsburg against Köln sealed their fate, and fans didn't take it well.
Moments before the game ended, Hamburg's radical fans lit up some flares in protest, but things seemed to get out of hand as black smoke emerged from that part of the stadium. The game had to be called off after this, sparking all sorts of reactions from fans inside the stadium and on social media.
Have a look at the footage below.

So here goes. Pyro. Game stopped, literally the whole stadium chants: "We are the people of Hamburg, and you're not" towards that section of the north stand #HSVBMG pic.twitter.com/XzXVeg5Cyq
So Hamburg supporters aren't taking the news that they have been relegated for the first time in 55 years particularly well... pic.twitter.com/yFjWYyv1i9
