The Colombian ace was surrounded by controversy during his return to the Bernabeu, and he stepped up with a classy gesture

One of the biggest talking points in tonight's matchup between Real Madrid and Bayern was James Rodriguez's return to the Bernabeu. Since he didn't leave Los Blancos on the best terms, the Colombian ace had a chance to get back at those who let him leave the club in the summer, particularly, Zinedine Zidane.

Nevertheless, Rodriguez showed his class by scoring a goal and asking for his fans' forgiveness, and was treated to a standing ovation as he left the pitch.

James went on to explain why he chose not to celebrate the goal that leveled the game.

"I spent three years of my life here, and I was truly happy. That's why I chose not to celebrate above all things," Rodriguez stated.

"That round of applause means a lot to me, it means that people haven't forgotten about what I did here. From the bottom of my heart, thank you," the player added.
