Match facts

  • This will only be the seventh clash between these two giants.

  • The last time these two sides met, La Albiceleste thrashed La Roja 5-1 in September 2010.

Preview

Two sides that could compete for the World Cup title will lock horns on Tuesday. Although Spain vs Argentina is a friendly, it is a golden chance for both sides to test themselves against fellow favorites.

La Albiceleste enters this fixture on the back of their 2-0 win over Italy at the Etihad Stadium. Messi is expected to return to the squad after missing that victory, meaning he should be the center of attention once more, but Aguero and Di Maria will both miss this tie due to injury.

Sampaoli still faces a tough task of choosing the right attackers to complement Leo, as Dybala and Icardi are in big danger of missing out on a ticket to Russia. Their opponent faces a similar predicament.

La Roja, who showed their scary passing prowess in the 1-1 draw with Germany, appears undecided on who will spearhead their attack. Alvaro Morata, Iago Aspas, Diego Costa, and Rodrigo Moreno are all vying for that spot; with the latter two featuring in the die Mannschaft clash.

The likes of Iniesta and Isco could all feature in an attempt to boss the midfield, with David Silva having been released from the squad due to personal reasons. Stopping Messi and Co. will be the hard task facing the likes of Ramos, Pique, and Alba.
