The Barcelona superstar could feature in Tuesday’s encounter.

Lionel Messi featured in Sunday’s training session as the Albeceleste prepared to take on Spain in their last game of the international break. The 30-year-old forward was forced to sit out his side’s victory over Italy after feeling a slight muscle discomfort. In his absence, Sevilla’s Ever Banega and West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini did the job for Jorge Sampaoli’s men as they cruised past Italy inside the Etihad Stadium.

The upcoming encounter at the Wanda Metropolitano proves to be a tough one as Spain equally boasts world-class players in its setup. As a result, Lionel Messi’s involvement could be hugely beneficial if the South Americans aim to enter Russia 2018 on a high note.

However, two key players for the side, striker Sergio Aguero and winger Angel Di Maria, will have no role to play in Tuesday night’s game after being sidelined with respective injuries. The former did not feature in the win over Italy as he was affected by a left-knee injury before the international break.
