Ruud van Nistelrooy is a hot target on Real Madrid’s transfer radar, but Hamburg aren’t willing to sell their striker. These complicated transfer matters have left Nistelrooy’s agent disappointed.
Real Madrid are currently coping with only one striker – Karim Benzema – in their squad. Rumours about Los Blancos searching for a striker instantly hit the headlines after it was confirmed that Gonzalo Higuain would be out for more than 2 months.

These transfer speculations transformed into genuine reports last week as Real Madrid’s general director Jorge Valdano revealed that the Spanish giants were actively searching for a striker. It is understood that the Spanish giants are looking at signing a quality striker which could help the team until the end of the season.

Nelson Valdez and David Trezeguet from Hercules were 2 names that popped up as transfer rumours got created by the media and the public. Last weekend, however, Ruud van Nistelrooy became the man at the centre of Real Madrid’s transfer news as Jose Mourinho publicly avowed his desire to work with him:

“It would be nice to sign another striker. If it was Ruud van Nistelrooy, I’d be very pleased because he is a player that I know very well from the Premier League,” Mourinho told reporters last Saturday.

Transfer matters involving Hamburg, Real Madrid and Ruud van Nistelrooy quickly became real instead of just media-speculated stories. As of now, it is believed that Los Blancos haven’t done an official offer for the Dutch player yet. In any case, Hamburg sporting director Reinhardt is already thinking about rejecting Real Madrid’s cash. According to Goal.com Germany, Reinhardt declared:

“There’s no chance whatsoever for Van Nistelrooy to leave. I’ve not talked to him, but the decision of HSV is final. He will stay.

“Even if Real Madrid come here for negotiations, the answer will be the same. Van Nistelrooy has a contract to fulfil.”

Meanwhile, the player seems flattered by Real Madrid’s interest after explaining that “it is not any old team” that is coming back for him. The 34-year-old striker, who played for PSV Eindhoven and Manchester United among a host of other clubs in the past, is viewing a return to the Santiago Bernabeu stadium as an enormous opportunity in his career just as his agent, Rodger Linse, explained while speaking to Algemeen Dagblad:

“Of course, I understand that a contract is a contract – and Ruud will respect that. But, the prospect of going back to Madrid seems like an extraordinary situation. In such cases, it’s normal to have emotions.

“In an unexpected manner, Ruud could end his career at the highest level – and that’s too good to be true. There shouldn’t be money and contract issues.

“But it’s because of the publicity that this transfer issue has become difficult. Personally, I hope that those involved will come to an agreement.

“A great sportsman like Ruud deserves to return to Real Madrid after working really hard.”

Nistelrooy, whose current contract will expire in June 2011, has netted 16 goals for Hamburg in 34 appearances since joining the club back in January 2010. Will he remain in HSV much longer or will he indeed switch to Real Madrid on a loan transfer deal this month?
