The pair was substituted off in the hotly contested Derby Della Mole after sustaining injuries.

It was Gonzalo Higuain who took an early shower after colliding with Torino goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu just two minutes into the first half. The Argentine forward subsequently limped off and was replaced by Frederico Bernardeschi.

The former Fiorentina player settled in quickly before assisting Alex Sandro to score Juventus’ first and only goal in the local derby on the 33rd minute. A tackle by Tomás Rincón at the latter part of the game forced Allegri to eject Bernadeschi.

The 24-year-old winger was immediately replaced by Stephan Lichtsteiner with just a minute of regulation time left on the clock. A statement released by Juventus after Higuain and Bernadeschi were analysed reads as follows:

“During today's derby against Torino, Gonzalo Higuain sustained a sprain and bruising of his left ankle, while Federico Bernardeschi sustained a knock to his left knee. For both players, further tests are planned in the coming days.”

The Biaconeri will take on Atalanta in back-to-back games in Serie A and Coppa Italia before they face Lazio and, consequently, Tottenham in a tough UCL Round of 16 second leg game at Wembley.
