The 2018 World Cup is just around the corner, and all the fever will rise on Friday with the draw that will allocate all teams from Group A to Group H.
The usual candidates to win the title will be present, with the only exception of Italy, who were eliminated by Sweden in the playoff stage.
This World Cup will also be remembered as the first to include sides such as Iceland and Panama, who qualified for the quatrennial tournament for the first time in history. Another great story was written by Peru, a team that will return to football's biggest stage after a 36-year absence.
How does the FIFA World Cup draw work?
All 32 teams have been split into four pots, according to the FIFA World Ranking published in October. Host nation Russia is the only exception to this rule, as they have been allocated in Pot 1 along with powerhouse teams such as Germany, Argentina and Brazil.
Group A will have Russia as Pot 1's member, with the remaining seven teams being drawn on Friday. The rest of the teams will be drawn from Pot 2 to Pot 4.
Teams from the same confederation (CONMEBOL, CAF, CONCACAF or AFC) will not be drawn against each other. Only two European teams will be able to share group in order to give all teams the same chance to make it to the knockout stage of the competition.
Here's how the pots look like prior to the draw.
