The Blaugrana feel that Sunday's game should not be played due to the unrest in the region.

The region of Catalonia has seen violence and disturbance amid their referendum for independence. People have made their way to the streets to vote, but the affair has been far from peaceful due to Spanish authorities ruling it as illegal.

The tensions could have an effect on today’s game involving the region’s biggest club: FC Barcelona. The Blaugrana are set to host Las Palmas on Sunday, but the league leaders have asked that their game be suspended due to the protests.

The power to postpone this game, however, does not lie with La Liga. Only the Spanish Football Federation have the authority to do so, and they will not take action unless police state that there is a danger to public order.

If Barcelona’s request for a postponement is denied, the Blaugrana would lose the game 3-0 and be deducted points if they decide not to play. Las Palmas declared that they are ready to play and will wear jerseys with the Spanish flag in protest of the referendum.

Barcelona have also announced that they will be wearing the senyera on the neck of their shirt. First vice-president of Barcelona Jordi Cardoner said (as per Marca): "We will not go out with the senyera, but we will carry it on the neck and in our heart.
