However, the PSG sensation faces stiff competition from La Liga and the Premier League.

On Tuesday, the nominees list for the Golden Boy award was announced. run by the Italian newspaper Tuttosport, 25 players were shortlisted for the prize that celebrates football’s hottest young player.

While several of the nominees are not yet household names, others are already high-profile players. Kylian Mbappe is one of them, leading the nominees list after sealing a loan to PSG that will cost the Ligue 1 leaders £166.4m.

His exploits with Monaco last season landed him on the radar of every big club in Europe. The teenager guided Jardim’s side to the French league title and a Champions League semi-final spot.

But Mbappe isn’t the only hot French prospect nominated. He faces stiff competition from Ousmane Dembele, the £97m Barcelona signing brought in to replace Neymar. Unfortunately, injury has ruled out the former Dortmund ace for four months, thus hurting his chances of winning.

Last year’s runners-up Marcus Rashford gets another nod after helping Man United win the League Cup and Europa League last term. The Red Devils ace is one of six English nominees, making England the most represented country on the list.

Gabriel Jesus also makes the cut after impressing for both Man City and Brazil. He could finally end the Golden Boy curse that appears to haunt Brazilian players – look how the careers of previous winners Anderson and Pato turned out.

Gianluigi Donnarumma of AC Milan also got a nomination. Check out the 25 players in full below.
