The Togolese forward opened up about how the actions of his brother helped kill his Bernaabeu stay.

In 2011, Emmaneul Adebayor sealed a surprise loan move to Real Madrid. Jose Mourinho was in need of another striker and thus turned to the Togolese forward as a quick solution.

The then Man City attacker performed well during his short spell at the Bernabeu despite his critics. He scored five goals in 14 league appearances, including a May hat-trick against Almeria, and aided Los Blancos in their Copa del Rey success.

However, his loan failed to turn into a permanent stay, and Adebayor had to be sent to Tottenham on loan as a result. The player admitted that he holds his family partly to blame for his failure to earn a long-term stay in Madrid.

The former Arsenal forward sat down with BBC for an interview in which he discussed his rocky relationship with his family. The player has gone public with his grievance towards a family, a move he continues to stand by.

“It's a tough one. It's a difficult one. Today, I think I made the right decision to go public because of what I have been through.

“People will say yes, you have to keep it for yourself. I had done everything to stay in Real Madrid but because of my late brother I couldn't stay there.”

Adebayor then went on to reveal how his brother played a part in the striker’s Bernabeu exit. Emmanuel said: “He sent a letter, an official letter from Adebayor's family to the club [saying] that they should not keep me.

'I'm not saying that's why they did not keep me, but it can be part of it. Even if it's 10 per cent, it is a lot.”

Now, Adebayor plies his trade with Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir. So far, he has been enjoying his time with his new employers, scoring six goals in nine league games.
