Could Nice vs. PSG effectively decide the Ligue 1 title?

Nice

Les Aiglons currently sit in third place ahead of this game, six points behind PSG. Lucien Favre's men have tried to keep themselves in the title race for as long as possible, but a series of draws, namely to Toulouse and Nantes have caused them to fall behind PSG and Monaco. However, a win today could cut that deficit to three and perhaps give them a chance to pip Les Parisiens to a runners-up spot, which would guarantee them an automatic spot in the Champions League for next season.

Enigmatic striker Mario Balotelli, who has had a solid season in France, is expected to lead the line. Unfortunately, the hosts will have to make do without key attacker Alassane Plea, as the youngster is struggling with an injury and is not anticipated to feature. Defender Maxime Le Marchand is another who will not be able to participate as he has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Given that they're playing at home, Nice naturally will have that much more added incentive to win this match and derail PSG's title plans.

PSG

Simply put, the onus is on PSG for this game. Les Parisiens can't afford to lose. Even a draw could ultimately cost them the Ligue 1 title, as Monaco have moved three points clear following their comfortable win over Toulouse. Les Rouges-et-Blancs have made it clear they intend to push PSG all the way to the end, and the way Leonardo Jardim's men are playing, they are looking ever so much closer towards ending PSG's reign as the no. 1 team in France.

Unai Emery has already clinched the Coupe de la Ligue, and PSG are into the finals of the Coupe de France after crushing Monaco yet again. However, the general feeling is that those two titles will not suffice, and having exited the Champions League, the very least Les Parisiens will aim to do is retain their Ligue 1 crown. The Spanish tactician will naturally play his strongest starting XI, which means that this season's top goal-scorer Edinson Cavani will be back in the line-up alongside Angel Di Maria; both were subbed off early during the Coupe de France tie last week.
