They come into this game having picked up just two points from their past five matches, and ended up on the wrong end of a nine-goal thriller against Fiorentina this past weekend. In fact, Inter haven't won a game since thrashing Atalanta 7-1 on March 12th, and since then, they have seen themselves tumble out of a berth for the Europa League.
Most disconcerting for Inter fans is the fact that during this bad streak, the Nerazzurri have lost to debutants Crotone and struggling Sampdoria. Against AC Milan, they had a 2-0 lead, but some poor defensive lapses allowed the Rossoneri to score two late goals. The same happened against Fiorentina last weekend; with a 2-1 lead, they conceded three in less than 10 minutes to fall behind and ultimately lose 5-4.
As a result of this bad run of form, Stefano Pioli's position is predictably up in the air, but he will have pretty much everyone of note available. With Fiorentina nipping at their heels, Inter could find themselves in eighth spot if they fail to pick up all three points - but that will be a lot easier said than done.
Napoli
Meanwhile, Napoli dropped two points by drawing with Sassuolo, but the Partenopei are obviously in a better position than their upcoming hosts. Maurizio Sarri's side are in contention for a Champions League spot, and with Roma facing Lazio, could potentially close the gap on the second-placed Giallorossi with a victory at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
Like Inter, Napoli has no real injury concerns to bother them, and so Sarri can field his preferred starting XI for this titanic clash. The Partenopei boast one of the strongest away records in the division, and are unbeaten in their last ten on the road. However, like Inter, they are prone to defensive erros that have cost them valuable points throughout the season, but boast the highest-scoring attack, with 77 goals so far from 33 rounds.
From a neutral perspective, this game looks like it could be a match full of end-to-end action. Will Napoli effectively end Inter's hopes at featuring in Europe? Or will the Nerazzurri end their five game winless streak with a vital win over a top-three side?
