Re-match of the 2015 final, but with different cast members

Juventus

The last time Juventus met Barcelona was in the 2015 Champions League final. Despite their valiant efforts, the Bianconeri were no match for the Blaugrana and had to settle for a runners-up spot after losing 3-1. Flash-forward nearly two years later and La Vecchia Signora will again have to get past the Spanish giants in order to progress. Gone are players like Arturo Vidal, Paul Pogba, Andrea Pirlo, and Carlos Tevez. In their stead have arrived faces like Gonzalo Higuain, Sami Khedira, Miralem Pjanic, Paulo Dybala, and Mario Mandzukic.

That being said, not all has changed. The famed "BBC" - featuring Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci, and Giorgio Chiellini are all still in a Bianconeri kit, as is legendary shot-stopper Gigi Buffon. That means that their defense is still as strong as ever, and Massimiliano Allegri's side are on course for a sixth straight Scudetto. The Treble dream is still very much alive and well, as Juve are in the finals of the Coppa Italia as well.

However, Allegri's modified formation could see one of the "BBC" sitting this one out, and Dani Alves is in contention to face his old club for the first time since leaving on a free last summer. Juventus come into this game having beaten Chievo at the weekend, which was the result Allegri wanted to see after losing 3-2 to Napoli in the Coppa Italia semi-finals earlier in the week.

Barcelona

Meanwhile, Barcelona come into this match having suffered a shock 2-0 defeat to Malaga. Luis Enrique's side could have taken advantage of Real Madrid's 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid in order to inch closer to top of the La Liga table, but threw away that golden opportunity. The loss is even more frustrating as Neymar received a red card, and due to dissent, will not be able to feature in the upcoming Clasico tie against Barca's bitter rivals.

The visitors also will be missing key midfielder Sergio Busquets due to a ban which will alter their favored starting XI. Barcelona have indeed had a very interesting UCL campaign to date; they made history in the round of 16 by beating PSG 6-1 at Camp Nou to overturn a 4-0 deficit. No team had ever achieved that, but if anyone can do the nearly impossible, it's the Catalan powerhouse. However, it's important to note that result came at their home ground, where they are indeed a formidable foe, whilst in their travels, the same cannot be said.

Juventus, of course, will represent a much tougher foe than PSG, especially on the defensive front. The Blaugrana could find it quite tough to get a breakthrough at Juventus Stadium, as Bayern Munich are the last side to have traveled to Turin and won at La Vecchia Signora's home base - which was four years ago in April 2013.
