The former player of the Dutch national team has been the manager of the side since 2015 when he took over from Guus Hiddink.

Netherlands manager Danny Blind has been stripped off his managerial position following the 2-0 defeat to Bulgaria in their World Cup qualifier. After missing out on last summer's Euro 2016, the Dutch side is also at risk of missing the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The Oranje currently sit at the fourth place on the table with seven points out of five games, while leaders France have 13 points from five games played. The Dutchmen have so far won only two, drawn one and lost two of their last five UEFA World Cup qualifiers. And when Spas Delev scored a brace for Bulgaria in Sofia to hand the Lions the much-needed victory on Saturday, the Dutch FA lost its patience with Blind.

Following his sacking, Manchester United left-back Daley Blind, his son, posted the following message on Instagram:

''Working together as father and son at top level was a dream that came true. You never walked away from your responsibilities and you never gave up. I'm proud of you.''
