Real Madrid and Barcelona could play each other thrice in 2017, according to our projection.

Football fans could be treated to a rare week and a half of football extravaganza piting rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona, a rivalry famously referred to as El Clasico. These two rivals could face each other thrice in a span of 11 days, but two of those meetings are have not been confirmed. Here are the possible scenarios that could lead to the three Clasicos in 11 days.

First Clasico - La Liga (confirmed)

Real Madrid and Barcelona play each other in La Liga on April 23, 2017 at the Santiago Bernabeu. The two sides played out to a one-all draw when they met on December 3 at the Nou Camp, and April's clash is set to be more exciting than ever now that they are both gunning for the league title.

Second Clasico - UCL Quater-final, first leg (unconformed)

This fixture has not yet been confirmed because the Champions League quarter-final draw has not yet been conducted. But football fans will be keeping their fingers crossed hoping for yet another Clasico on April 11/12, when the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final matches will be played.

Third Clasico - UCL Quarter-final, second leg (unconfirmed)

This would be the second clash between the two bitter rivals on April 18/19 if they are drawn together in the quarter-finals of the competition. With Real Madrid, the defending champions, eyeing their 12th title in the history of this competition, it would be interesting to see if Barcelona would kick them out at this stage.

Oh, lest you forget - there is another El Clasico in the summer pre-season to be played in Miami, USA on July 29, 2017. Let's just say we haven't had a more classic year than this in a very long time!
