Everything that the Argentine ace said about Cristiano, Pep, and a move to the Premier League appears to be false.

Sorry, Manchester City. Despite recent reports that the Citizens are ready to splash €115m on the Argentine superstar, he appears nowhere close to leaving Camp Nou.

This is according to the player himself, who was asked about the rumors linking him with a Premier League switch. This occurred during the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s interview with Coach Magazine (as per AS).

When asked whether he might entertain the thought of moving to England, Leo said: "I have always said that Barcelona has given me everything and I am here for as long as they want me to be."

This will go far in reassuring Blaugrana fans over La Pulga’s future with the Catalan giants. Contract negotiations are ongoing, but the player is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal.

Messi’s current deal with the defending Spanish Primera Division champions ends in 2018, meaning he would be free to negotiate with other clubs next year should no extension be signed. Although it is hard to imagine Leo leaving Barcelona, supporters remain in unease.

One possibility is a return to Newell’s Old Boys, but that will likely only occur during the end of his career. The only thing we know is that Leo may never put an end to the “but can he do it on a cold rainy night in Stoke” question.

UPDATE

Claims have emerged from both the player's camp and the club's that this interview, in which he also talks about his rivalry with Cristiano, is fake. Check out the tweet below.

Here are excerpts from the alleged interview

What motivates you?

Messi: To win trophies for my club and country. That is why I never look back at my success. I can do that when I am retired, for now it is about looking forward to more success.

Who do you think is going to win the Premier League this season?

Messi: It is a very competitive league, last season showed that, so it makes it very difficult to predict. Of course Pep is a very successful coach, he will be adjusting to the league, but I am sure that he will be successful.

How do you view Ronaldo? Has playing at the same time as another all-time great motivated you?

Messi: There is a mutual respect. I view him as a great player who has achieved great things because that is exactly what he is. My motivation, though, has always come from wanting to do well for Barcelona and Argentina, and the fans.
