Barcelona fans are an angry lot following their club's match against Villarreal at El Madrigal on Sunday. The hosts took the lead in the 50th minute through Nicola Sansone in a match Barca had to win in order to catch up with league leaders and rivals Real Madrid.

Lionel Messi pulled one goal back for Blaugrana through a well-taken freekick. La Pulga has now scored two goals in 2017, both from free-kicks.

The defending champions now find themselves trailing their rivals by five points. Bearing in mind that Los Blancos have one match in hand, the lead could be extended to eight points between them and Luis Enrique's men.
But a section of fans of the Catalan club were furious at the center referee for failing to award what seemed like a clear penalty when defensive midfielder Bruno appeared to have handled the ball in the box, a decision that could completely change the course of the match.
