The former Blaugrana playmaker can't understand why the panel of voters decided to give the award to the Portuguese footballer.

Not everyone in the world is happy after Cristiano Ronaldo was handed the 2016 Ballon D'Or.

One of those people that decided to voice his discomfort was Al Sadd midfielder Xavi, who entered a war of words with the Portuguese ace back in September since he felt Lionel Messi deserved the award.

The former Catalan skipper blasted those who elected CR7, since he believes Messi should have been the one to take the trophy home.

"The jury was biased. They shouldn't have considered the collective trophies, because you're talking about who the best player in the world is. There's no doubt in my mind, Lionel Messi is the best player in the world even if someone else won more trophies," Hernández stated.

Hernández's words may come as no surprise, given the recent controversy between both footballers. Back in September, Xavi stated that CR7's problem was that he played football during Lionel Messi's time, which caused Ronaldo to hit back by questioning if the Catalan midfielder had won a Ballon D'Or in his career.

But did he hit the nail on its head? Should voters base their choice on personal accomplishments? Share your thoughts!
