Once the Portuguese ace was revealed as the 2016 Ballon D'Or winner, fans around the world expected to know the difference between the two most dominant football players of our time. The results were astonishing, but in the end, having won two major trophies with club and country helped CR7 achieve a massive difference.

Here's how the Top Ten players were ranked after all ballots came in.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo, 745 points.

2. Lionel Messi, 316 points.

3. Antoine Griezmann, 198 points.

4. Luis Suárez, 91 points.

5. Neymar, 68 points.

6. Gareth Bale, 60 points.

7. Riyad Mahrez, 20 points.

8. Jamie Vardy, 11 points.

9. Gianluigi Buffon & Pepe,  8 points.

Among the 30 players elected for this award, 11 of them were unable to capture a single point. That list includes some top-caliber names such as Paulo Dybala, Koke, Hugo Lloris, Manuel Neuer, Diego Godín, Sergio Agüero, Thomas Müller, Kevin De Bruyne, Gonzalo Higuaín, Sergio Ramos and Andrés Iniesta. The first players able to score some points were Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Dimitri Payet, all of them with one.
