We compare Real Madrid's current manager to two previous managers and the two Blaugrana bosses.

El Clasico is right around the corner, but one more round of La Liga games must be played before Barca entertain Real Madrid at their home stadium. The Blaugrana face a tricky clash away to Real Sociedad, whilst Los Blancos play hosts to Sporting Gijon.

Luis Enrique’s men need nothing but a win, having drawn their last game 0-0 at home to Malaga.  Zidane’s boys, on the other hand, are flying high and are expected to triumph on Saturday. The Madrid giants are without defeat in 30 games across all competitions, and are leading the standings.

In La Liga alone, how has the Frenchman fared compared to Enrique and other famous bosses? We take a look at their numbers after their first 32 Spanish Primera Division games.

Luis Enrique: 72 points after 32 games

The Asturian boss’ beginning wasn’t all too well. It took a while for the results to start rolling in, plus claims of a rift with Lionel Messi – one which many tipped would have cost him his job – dominated the headlines.

However, the reign of MSN kicked in and the Blaugrana went on to conquer Spain and Europe, winning La Liga; Copa del Rey; the Champions League; the UEFA Super Cup; and the FIFA Club World Cup. Not bad.

Pep Guardiola: 81 points in 32 games

Guardiola remains the legendary Barcelona boss that future managers will be measured up to. The reason for this is that by his second season as Camp Nou boss, he had already won five major trophies – La Liga, Copa del Rey, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and Supercopa de Espana. A few months later, he added the FIFA Club World Cup title to his list of achievements.

Other Spanish Primera Division managers

Jose Mourinho: 77 points after 32 games

Manuel Pellegrini: 80 points after 32 games

And finally, Zizou…

Zinedine Zidane: 83 points after 32 games

Yes, the Frenchman even tops Guardiola’s tally by two points. Although Zidane hasn’t brought back silverware in his first season as Pep and Enrique did, it should be noted that the French legend inherited a broken squad in January and led them to a Champions League trophy.
