The Spaniard has enforced a few strict rules at the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola has been a revelation since taking over Manchester City, winning his first six games in the English Premier League. Despite suffering defeat on Matchday 7 to Tottenham, the Citizens still top the table.

What is his secret? Argentine defender Pablo Zabaleta opened up about the Spaniard’s strict rules at the Etihad, giving insight into the new methods brought by the former Bayern boss.

Number one on the list of things banned by Guardiola – and they are quite a few – is wifi or signal in the dressing room, meaning no live Facebook videos and Instagram before kick-off.

Junk food such as pizzas and burgers are no more on the menu, but this ban is not surprising, given it was enforced at both Camp Nou and the Allianz Arena.

Furthermore, in order to assure no player falls of the wagon in regards to his strict diet, Pep makes the players eat breakfast and lunch together. There is, of course, the extra bonus of mingling – we thought of just throwing that one in.

And what happens if you fail to follow the diet and, let’s say, put on unwanted weight? You won’t be allowed to train with the squad, and if you think that is an exaggeration, ask Aguero and Nasri.
