The Argentinean has struggled with this injury since the beginning of the 2016-2017 season, even forcing him to sit one game out with La Albiceleste

Lionel Messi's untimely injury could force him out of the next six games, according to the club's medical staff that ruled the superstar out for the next three weeks.

Coach Luis Enrique and the player will decide when he will return to the pitch, but Messi's immediate future will not include playing Barcelona's upcoming games against Sporting Gijón, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Celta.

Added to those games with Los Blaugranas, Messi seems set to miss the WC Qualifying games against Perú and Paraguay.

When the International Break comes to a close, Messi will miss another La Liga game against Deportivo if the team's medical staff chooses to follow their initial estimate. He would be back for the crucial UEFA Champions League tie against Manchester City.

The news about Messi's injury was received with disappointment by Argentina's coach Edgardo Bauza. In an interview with Fox Sports, La Albiceleste's boss criticized Los Blaugranas for using Messi in each and every game, even after knowing he is not in the best shape possible.

"We constantly get messages from Barcelona's doctors about Messi, and how we should take care of him. I find that annoying, since they don't take such good care of him. It's strange to watch him play every match, especially if everyone in Barcelona knows he's not as fit as he could be," Bauza stated.

Despite what Barcelona's doctors stated yesterday after the game, Bauza will decide on Messi's call up Messi until his medical staff knows the extent of his injury.
