Antonio Conte looks to continue bolstering his defense even after the transfer window deadline day.

Chelsea may have made two defensive signings on the transfer window deadline day, but the Sun claim that the Blues won’t stop there, linking them to another center-back.

As reported by the British tabloid, who cite reports out of Italy, the London giants have emerged as favorites to land Martin Caceres. Although the transfer window has closed, the Uruguayan is a free agent and is thus eligible to sign for a club.

Caceres left Juventus over the summer after his contract with the Serie A champions ran out. The 29-year-old played under Conte and served the Bianconeri for five seasons before being let go.

One reason why the Old Lady weren’t keen on retaining the Uruguayan’s services was his struggles with fitness, as injury plagued his Turin career.

As a result, the Sun write that Conte has demanded to see the player’s medical records before making an official move for Caceres.

Martin, who can play as both a center-back and full-back, could bolster Chelsea’s defense. However, it’s unclear whether the South American will be able to challenge for a spot in the starting eleven.

The Stamford Bridge side recently brought back David Luiz to London on a £30m only two years after selling the Brazilian to PSG. The Selecao international will likely partner with Gary Cahill at the heart of their defense.
