Analysis

Ahead of this match, Dortmund won three of their last five matches. They beat Wuppertaler 2-0, St. Paoli 3-2 and lost to TSV Munchen by a solitary goal. They then bounced back to hammer Manchester United 4-1 in China, before losing two Man City on post-match penalties.

On the other hand, Sunderland have not lost any of their last five pre-season fixtures. They beat Hartlepool United 3-0, Rotherham United 2-1, Stade Nyonnais 2-0 and then sealed their four-match winning run with a win over Dijon.  Their last fixture ended in a one-all draw against Montpellier.

The Black Cats are ready to claw

Dortmund tend to have quite an impressive record against English teams. They beat Liverpool in Germany in their Europa League fixture earlier this season, and also beat Manchester United in China in the International Champions Cup.

While Sunderland are the only Premier League club that are yet to sign a player this summer, Dortmund boast of a wide range of fresh legs, starting from the lethal Ousmane Dembele, who scored a stunner against Man United in their 4-1 win.

The German giants have signed a total of 10 players this summer. They include Mikel Merino, Jannik Bandowski, Ousmane Dembele, Marc Bartra, Sebastian Rode, Emre Mor, Jakub Blaszczykowski, Raphael Guerreiro, Mario Gotze and Andre Schurrle. By virtue of being the second-best team in Germany, BVB could cruise to an easy win here.
