French giants PSG could end up losing two of their biggest strikers in recent years in a single season, as Edison Cavani is (once again) subject to interest from the English Premier League.
According to Le 10 Sport, Les Parisiens have received a bid from the Uruguayan striker from London giants Chelsea, with the Blues offering £42m for the former Nap hitman.
Cavani, who struggled to shine at Parc des Princes in the presence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, has emerged as a key figure in Unai Emery’s plans, given the Swedish striker’s move to Manchester United.
As a result, the Ligue 1 champions have slapped a £66.7m price tag on Cavani in order to ward off interest, meaning Chelsea’s bid is over £20m below PSG’s asking price.
However, belief is that the 29-year-old is keen on leaving the French capital, meaning an improved bid might just see Antonio Conte’s crew pry the South American ace from PSG.
Chelsea’s search for a new striker is no kept secret, being linked with Alvaro Morata despite having already signed Michy Batshuayi. Diego Costa remains a key figure in the goalscoring department, but his shortcomings last season – alongside that of Loic Remy and Pedro – has the Blues in need of reinforcement.
Morata, though, appears out of reach, as both Real Madrid and the player himself have set their minds on a Santiago Bernabeu stay.
