The Spanish shot-stopper found it hard to enjoy playing time with the Red Devils last year after falling out of favor with former coach Louis Van Gaal.

Recently-promoted side Middlesbrough means business, and their latest signing is a good example of their intentions during their return to the Premier League.

Boro's boss Aitor Karanka unveiled Victor Valdes as the team's most recent signing. The former Barcelona goalkeeper returns to the Premier League after a short loan spell at Standard Liege, following an unsuccessful stint with Manchester United.

Valdes had limited playing options under coach Louis Van Gaal, who banished him from first-team duty after allegedly refusing to play with the U-21 team.

The team unveiled Valdes' signing via Twitter.

The 34-year-old shot-stopper spent 11 years as Barcelona's shot-stopper, where he won practically every trophy a footballer can play for. After recovering from a career-threatening knee  injury, Valdes joined Manchester United in 2015, but he was only able to play two games for the Red Devils. Following Van Gaal's rant about his attitude, he managed to play eight games for Standard Liege in the recently concluded season.

Valdés also used his Twitter feed to show his happiness about this new chance to play.
