Ahead of Manchester City’s Europa League match against Lech Poznan, Kompany has reminded the public that the Sky Blues were seriously competing in the tournament.
The Red Devils’ rivals are second in the English Premier League behind Chelsea and some have started supposing that they might put more efforts to become the champions of England since they are currently on a good track domestically. Meanwhile others suggest that City – who dream about Champions League football – may not be serious about winning the UEFA Europa League.

Manchester City are also already out of the Carling Cup. However, the billionaires are not ready to focus on only one tournament or undervalue another as Kompany told Sky Sports:

“The situation in which City are now means that we can’t afford to be arrogant in any cup, because we haven’t won anything.

“This one [the UEFA Europa League] is very important. The FA Cup will be very important to us, just as much as the league.

“Any trophy would be very welcome. The level in the Europa League is very high. Any games in Europe gives you experience.”

Lech Poznan are on top of Group A on goal difference ahead of tonight’s European match. Manchester City could pursue their unbeaten run in the competition with a better result than the 1-1 draw they had at home to Juventus late in September.
