As Real Madrid prepare to clash with Man City in the semi-final of the UCL, we bring you the latest news from both camps, and everything you need to know about this match.

Real Madrid welcome Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabeu for the second-leg tie of their UCL semi-final fixture.

Both sides need a win to cruise to the next stage of the competition, having played out to a goalless draw at the Etihad Stadium a week ago. In the first leg, Los Blancos seemed blunt in attack thanks to the absence of their key forward Cristiano Ronaldo, who had been sidelined due to a muscle injury. The Portuguese international, who is the top scorer in this season’s UCL with 16 goals, is however expected to return to face the Citizens. On the other hand, the English giants could also welcome their midfield star Yaya Toure.

Manchester City are eyeing their first-ever final appearance in the Champions League and on the other hand, the Spanish giants are looking for their first Champions League title since 2014.

Zinedine Zidane’s men have an impressive run in the UCL this season; they have not lost 11 of their last 12 matches in the competitions. Meanwhile, their Wednesday opponents have not lost any of their last six ULC games this season.

The English giants are expected to play defensive football and hope to catch Real Madrid off guard through quick counter-attacks. With the return of Cristiano Ronaldo, Man City’s defence need to be extra keen to avoid soaking in goals like their German counterparts did at the same venue in the Champions League. Obviously, CR7 would want to be the hero once again for Los Blancos by firing them past City, just like he did against Wolfsburg.

To win this clash, City will need to be sharp on attack and make use of their chances considering the fact that Real Madrid have not conceded a Champions League goal at home in almost a year.

Team news

Real Madrid

CR7 is set to return for the hosts, but his attacking partner Karim Benzema could miss this clash due to injury. He could be replaced by Lucas Vazquez and Borja Mayoral at the front. Casemiro is still doubtful for this clash, but he could pass a late fitness test.

Manchester City

The Citizens are set to welcome their midfield kingpin Yaya Toure back to the squad after recovering from injury. Manuel Pellegrini could also start Raheem Sterling in place of Jesus Navas or vice-versa.
