Former Chelsea star Ashley Cole got one of the most bizarre bookings in the MLS this season.

The LA Galaxy fullback was shown the first yellow card for time-wasting when taking a throw-in. 32 seconds after the first yellow card, the referee shocked the spectators when he flashed the second yellow card on the 35-year-old’s face for a nasty tackle on Sporting KC’s Benny Feilhaber. This was Cole's first red card in his MLS career.

However, the no-nonsense center referee Chris Penso has a record that speaks for itself. So far in 2016, he has taken charge of six games, dished out 30 bookings and five red cards in the process.
