Crystal Palace’s manager has decided to avoid penning a new contract until his club is mathematically safe from the relegation zone.

Sixteenth-place contenders, Crystal Palace, are walking on a thin line, as they are now only eight points above the threatening relegation zone after losing to Manchester United at the Old Trafford in their most recent league appearance.

Despite the loss, the team is in good spirits, given they clinched a vital FA Cup semifinal victory at home against Watford this Sunday. Yannick Bolasie and Connor Wickham were the goal scorers of the evening, helping the Eagles secure their spot in the final.

Yet, even with a possible silverware for the English side, Alan Pardew will not sign a new deal until Crystal Palace can confirm their Premier League status for the upcoming season and therefore if the Eagles want Pardew to continue at Selhurst Park, they have no choice but to stay alive.

According to Metro, the London native coach has expressed his thoughts about extending his contract with Crystal Palace in a recent press conference:

‘No, I’m not ready to sign yet because the decision I made was that I wouldn’t sign it until we’re mathematically safe,’ he said.

‘We have to keep our focus and ensure the team is ready for three important league games. We need to get the points, and then we can enjoy the cup final’.

The beginning of the season did not look too promising for Pardew’s team, as they had a horrible run of four months without a single league win. However, after winning four of their last five domestic matches, Crystal Palace is demonstrating their desire to stay above the relegation zone.
