Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo failed to convert from the spot against Sevilla, something that could have given the hosts a 2-0 lead in the second-half at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Portuguese forward stepped up to take the penalty after Luka Modric was brought down in the box, but blasted wide.
However, the former Man United man was on target moments later to put the hosts 2-0 up. Gareth Bale then netted the third for Los Blancos as Jese Rodriguez drove the last nail into Sevilla's coffin with yet another cool finish.
The Madrid giants won the match 4-0, and will now face their bitter rivals FC Barcelona at the Nou Camp in their next La Liga fixture on April 2, 2016 in a match that the visitors will be hoping to bridge the gap between them and the high-flying league leaders.
