The German striker scored the equalizer for Die Roten as time expired, sending the game to extra time and allowing Bundesliga's champions to defeat Juventus.

Pep Guardiola "threatened" to get medieval on his players if they were unable to defeat Juventus at Allianz Arena. According to striker Thomas Müller, the Catalan coach used a curious "motivational" speech before the extra time of the game started, in order to guarantee the Bavarians' presence among the final eight teams in the tournament.

"Of course, there are a lot of emotions. I wouldn't be any different as a coach. We wanted to play for the third goal, because we still had energy left in us," Müller told Kicker after the game.

Guardiola's speech surely worked as a charm, as Thiago Alcántara and Kingsley Coman scored two more goals for Bayern during overtime, helping their coach to reach the quarter final stage of the tournament in each of his seven seasons as coach.

Guardiola's reactions throughout the game.

The German striker admitted they needed to find it inside them to bounce back, considering Juventus played a tough, defensive match.

"It wasn't going according to plan. It was a crazy match. It was weird. I didn't see much of the ball because Juve defended very deep. We didn't defend very well when we conceded the two goals," Müller concluded.
