Outspoken Barcelona defender Dani Alves is trending once again for familiar reasons. The Brazil international has been at the centre of controversy in the recent past, and is well-known for taking the war of words to his opponents’ half.
The trolling originated from Real Madrid’s loss to their bitter rivals Atletico Madrid on Saturday in a match where Cristiano Ronaldo was quoted by a section of Spanish media claiming that Los Blancos lost because some of their players were not of his standards.
His comments generated mixed reactions on Twitter as some fans believed that the former Man United man was being boastful, while others seemed to agree by his sentiments. However, such controversial topics do not go unnoticed by the bullish Dani Alves, and it is for that reason that he posted a coded response to the 31-year-old on Instagram.
He posted a photo of Barcelona players sharing a light moment in training, as if to showcase team work, a character that Cristiano Ronaldo apparently lacks. He then added the caption:
"The greatness of a team is in the respect and the complicity we have. Together we were, are and will be whatever we want."
He concluded by mentioning Barca’s next fixture against rivals Sevilla:
"A very important day. Let's go, let's go family."
