FC Barcelona play Las Palmas in their last La Liga match before travelling to England to face Arsenal.

After beating Sporting Gijon 3-1 on Wednesday night, Luis Enrique’s men continue with their quest to defend the La Liga title when they visit the Canary Islands to face Las Palmas. The last time the two sides faced each other, Barcelona star Lionel Messi picked up a knee injury that kept him out of action for almost two months. Interestingly, Leo, who scored his 300th La Liga goal on Wednesday, could be available for this match.

The journey to Las Palmas is expected to last approximately three hours, which is quite longer than the distance the Spanish giants will have to cover when they play Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the Champions League next week. However, despite the distance, the Blaugrana are expected to continue with their winning run, something that they badly need before facing Arsene Wenger’s men in London. The Gunners have previously felled European giants such as Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium, a fact that could give Luis Enrique’s men sleepless nights prior to their visit to the North London club.

The Champions League clash aside, Barca face a side that has struggled to win in the recent past; they have lost four points out of their last five matches. Currently sitting in the relegation zone, a morale boosting win against the La Liga table leaders could be all they need to kick start their journey to survival.

FC Barcelona

Barca manager is expected to rest some of his key players ahead of the trip to the Emirates Stadium, but Javier Mascherano, Dani Alves and Jordi Alba could return after taking a rest on Wednesday. One or two forwards between Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar could be rested in preparation for their Champions League match. Gerard Pique could also be rested, while Thomas Vermaelen is expected to fill the spot.
