Pep Guardiola will take over the Citizens next season, a move which may spell the end of the Ivorian's time at the Etihad.

Ecstatic were the Manchester City fans when the club announced that Pep Guardiola will replace Manuel Pellegrini next season, but it didn’t take too long for questions to be raised over the future of one of their star players: Yaya Toure.

The Ivorian joined the Citizens from Barcelona back in 2010 for around £24m during the Spaniard’s reign at Camp Nou having failed to secure a spot in the starting eleven, leading many to ponder whether history will repeat itself one Pep arrives at the Etihad.

Whether the 32-year-old will be pivotal in Guardiola’s plans or deemed surplus to requirements once more is yet to be seen; nonetheless, the player’s agent has already tipped the 2015-16 season to be Yaya’s last campaign with the English Premier League giants.

Dimitri Seluk, the player’s agent, revealed that superstar midfielder’s future at Man City remains in Guardiola’s hand, but he stressed that it’s nothing personal.

“I think Yaya will leave the club,” said Seluk. “But before leaving I hope he will win again the League and all the cups.

Man City fans share their thoughts on the inevitable departure of Manuel Pellegrini

“It’s not a question of whether Pep likes him or not. It’s life, you know.

“Pep can call Yaya and speak to him to let him know ‘I’m with you’ or ‘I am not with you’.”

After Yaya Toure moved from the Catalan giants to England, former Blaugrana officials Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano – Man City’s Sporting Director and Chief Executive Officer – followed suit, something the player’s agent credits to the Ivorian.

Furthermore, Seluk question whether the English giants could maintain success without Toure, adding:

“Yaya opened the door for the people who worked for Barcelona. Yaya went to a place where many changes were necessary.

“He was not afraid. But now everybody from Barca comes to City.

“Yaya won every trophy in England without Guardiola. Will Guardiola win without Yaya?”
