Luis Suárez hasn't forgotten how FIFA handled his incident with Giorgio Chiellini during the 2014 World Cup, as he revealed he was given the chance to attend the 2015 Ballon D'Or gala, but he decided not to show up.
According to Suárez, this was just an attempt from FIFA to make him feel beloved, but the reason to invite him was not satisfying enough for Suárez, who respectfully declined.
"FIFA just made up an excuse to invite me to the Ballon D'Or gala. They asked me to come after I was named the Best Player of the Club World Cup, but I made my research and I noticed they had never invited the winner of that trophy before. They tried to talk me into it, but I refused to play along," Suárez stated.
The Uruguayan striker, one of this year's key players for Barcelona, revealed he wasn't sure of playing the Club World Cup in December, given that he doesnt' want to have anything to do with FIFA execs.
"It was a tournament that I had wanted to play for a long time. Even if FIFA had their hands into it, I tried not to think about it and decided to go," Suárez added.
Suárez has scored 23 goals in all competitions for Barcelona in his first full season with the team. The South American ace currently leads the Pichichi standings in La Liga, followed closely by Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar.
