The Bayern boss recently confirmed that the English Premier League will be his next destination, with the Citizens favorites.

Speaking ahead of their Capital One Cup heavyweight semi-final clash with Everton, Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini dropped a huge hint that this could be his last season with the Sky Blues, whether he secures silverware or not.

With reports on Pep Guardiola’s rumored move to the Citizens dominating the news, the Chilean boss admitted that club owners have the option to change managers regardless of this season’s outcome.

It’s no secret; the former Barcelona boss is heading to the English Premier League next summer, once his current contract with Bayern Munich runs out at the end of the season.

The Spanish tactician recently put the rumors to rest, revealing that the English top-flight will be his next challenge, having already confirmed his intentions not extend his deal with the reigning Bundesliga champions.

Although 20-time champions Manchester United, and London duo Chelsea and Arsenal are believed to be in the mix for the race to sign the Spaniard, Man City are tipped as favorites to secure Pep’s signature.

This, though, means that current boss Manuel Pellegrini will have to clear up his lockers and make way once the 2015-16 season wraps up, with one more year remaining on his current deal.

"I don't think my position in the future is linked to titles. For me, as a manager, it's important to win the title because it's my job," said the 62-year-old.

"My way of thinking is that, if I have the option to renew here for five years more and don't win the title, or to win the title and be sacked, I'd prefer to win the title and be sacked. For a manager, your work is to win the title, so the other doesn't matter.

"I think that if you are the owner of a club, you must have the option to replace the manager if they win the title or if they don't win the title. It just is about your trust in the way you work. That is more important than if you win a title or not for the owners."

Pellegrini signed a contract extension in August of 2015 which runs until 2017, and despite delivering the league and cup double in his debut campaign, it remains unlikely that the former Malaga boss will be given the luxury of completing his contract.
