Even before the January transfer window officially opens, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has ruled out the possibility of signing new players.

Many Arsenal fans had hoped to see new players arrive at the club in January in order to boost their chances of winning the Premier League this season. However, manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he does not have any plan to sign new players when the transfer window opens despite losing to Southampton 4-0 on Boxing Day.

The French tactician is optimistic that the Gunners will be in perfect form when his injured players regain full fitness in January. Asked about the prospect of bringing in new faces, he responded:

"That's always the question you get."

"We have many players who are injured and will come back soon.

"That's always the question you get," Wenger said. "We have many players who are injured and will come back soon.

"Buy, buy, buy, buy is always the solution that people see.

"I think it's true that we couldn't score, but we conceded goals (against Southampton) and we have enough defenders."

The list of injured players at the North London club includes the likes of Santi Cazorla, Alexis Sanchez and Francis Coquelin, while Danny Welbeck and Jack Wilshere are long-term absentees.

Arsenal had been linked with a move for Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny, but Wenger was quick to dismiss the reports despite the fact that the promising Egyptian would cost only £5 million.

Meanwhile, Wenger has tipped his boys to bounce back from the embarrassing defeat at the St. Mary’s Stadium by beating Bournemouth on Monday. A win for the Gunners will take them to the top of the table, albeit temporarily, since Leicester will not be in action not until Tuesday against Manchester City.

He added:

"I believe what I say to my players is between my players and myself.’’

"These players have fantastic spirit and they can show that in 48 hours. We are in a job where we have to respond. We want to respond from disappointments.’’

"Unfortunately, there's no possible career without disappointment. Nobody, not even the best players in the world, can have that.’’

"It's down to how you respond and I trust my players to respond in a very strong way on Monday."
