One of Zizou's team-mates during the Galácticos era believes the former playmaker could be the one to take over Rafa Benitez's position as coach.

Luis Figo backed up Zinedine Zidane's options about becoming Real Madrid's new coach. According to Figo, Zidane's appointment as the first team's manager is only a matter of time, considering he's always pictured himself as Los Blancos' boss.

"It's one of his goals. He dreams about coaching the first team. He's already coaching Castilla, and I believe that it's up to him to win the position. I don't know if they will give him the chance right now, but I guess that, if the circumstances are ideal, he will coach them soon," Figo stated.

The two Ballon D'Or winners established a friendly relationship since their playing days with Los Blancos.

Zidane assisted José Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti while they coached Real Madrid a few years ago. He stepped down as assistant coach last season to coach Real Madrid Castilla, the second tier team, where he has quickly shown his class as manager.

Former boss Carlo Ancelotti took Zidane under his wing for a year. The couple coached Real Madrid during the club's tenth UEFA Champions League title.

Finally, Figo referred to under-fire coach Rafa Benitez. Despite considering he has what it take to lead Los Blancos, the Portuguese legend believes Benitez should speed things up before he gets sacked.

"You have to understand that Real Madrid can't afford to waste any time. You always have to be one step ahead and win as frequently as you can. It's up to the people that call the shots, let's wait and see if he is given more time or not," the player concluded.
