Luis Figo believes that Los Blancos' striker has a fighting chance of winning the award for a third straight year. CR7 is nominated alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar

Luis Figo shared in an interview who he thinks should be the 2015 Ballon D'Or winner. The former player, who won the award back in the year 2000, believes that his fellow countryman Cristiano Ronaldo has a legitimate shot at the trophy, considering it's an individual award rather that the result of hard work with his team.

"Messi, Neymar and Cristiano are all great players. If the board considers what each player achieved with their clubs, then the award should be given to either of Barça's players. But if those who vote consider individual achievements, then Cristiano should be the winner," Figo stated.

Both players shared the Portuguese National Team's locker room in the 2004 Euro and the 2006 World Cup.

Last season, Real Madrid wasn't able to win a single trophy, whiel Barcelona took home the treble for the second time in six years. Individually, the Portuguese player has scored 87 goals for club and country this season, compared to Messi's 76 goals. Neymar racked 66 goals for Brazil and Barcelona so far this year.

Figo also shared his thoughts about which players have caught his eye during the ongoing season, making it clear that his compatriot and "La Pulga" are one step ahead of every other player in the world.

"Douglas Costa, Neymar and Marco Verratti have been superb, but despite their excellent season, I believe Cristiano and Messi are above them all," Figo concluded.
