Bayern Munich continue with their DFB-Pokal campaign against Darmstadt on Tuesday.

The Bundesliga giants approach this fixture amid fears of their seemingly exhausted strike force. Last weekend, they seemed to struggle against lowly-ranked Ingolstadt in their Bundesliga fixture not until the lethal Robert Lewandowski rescued them in the 25th minute.

Although the Bavarians went ahead to win the match after Philipp Lahm added the second to guarantee yet another week at the top of the Bundesliga table, their overall performance was way below what many fans had expected. Currently, Bayern are facing a major injury crisis that could prompt coach Pep Guardiola to field a weaker squad against their midweek opponents.

Both teams are equally strong ahead of this fixture; the visitors dismissed Hannover while their midweek hosts overcame holders Wolfsburg in the previous round. However, ever since they beat Hannover, Dirrk Schuster’s men have only won one out of their last six matches in all competitions.

They also come into this fixture fresh from a 4-0 loss at home to Hertha Berlin and will need to recover quickly if they are to beat Bayern at the Allianz Arena. Unfortunately, history dictates that the visitors have never beaten the Bundesliga leaders before.

Team news

Bayern Munich

Arjen Robben and Douglas Costa have been sidelined due to injury but they will most likely pass a late fitness test before today’s match. Other stars suffering from injury include Franck Ribery and Mario Gotze, who are less likely to feature in the match. Additionally, the German giants may not have much hope with the likes of David Alaba, Medhi Benatia and Juan Bernat.

Darmstadt 98

As the visitors continue with the hunt for their first ever Pokal title, they will have to play without the likes of Fabian Holland, Jan Rosenthal and Milan Ivana who have been ruled out of the clash due to injuries.
