Real Madrid's striker assured he will try to work things out with his French team-mate, so both can win the 2016 Euro with their country.

Karim Benzema finally told his truth about the blackmailing case involving French team-mate Mathieu Valbuena and his childhood friend Karim Zenati.

In an interview with French channel TF1, the Real Madrid striker who also plays a key role in the French National Team revealed he was "surprised" by how this situation got mixed up so badly, but he hopes that every thing will be sorted out in time to clear his name.

"I'm not playing for the cameras, I'm not playing a game. I'm here to be sincere, I am really disappointed with the magnitude of this story, because blackmail and stuff like that, frankly it's very serious," Benzema told during the interview.

Valbuena and Benzema are not allowed by French authorities to meet, since Real's striker has been placed under judicial supervision.

Benzema revealed he only wanted to help Valbuena by letting him know about the existance of a sex tape featuring him. Furthermore, he encouraged the player to contact his childhood friend, Zenati, who is suspected to have a central role in the blackmailing case against Valbuena. Real Madrid's striker went even further and described he still keeps in touch with his "best friend".

I've been successful in my life and (Zenati) is being looked after, because he is my boyhood friend. That's why I don't understand this story about blackmail and money," he added.

With Benzema's complicated legal situation, French coach Didier Deschamps could be forced to leave one of the two players out of the squad playing in next year's Euro, given that the striker and Valbuena are not allowed to meet until the process has been concluded. Fully aware of this situation, Benzema trusts everything's sorted out properly and both can go back to do what they do best.

"Hopefully it will end well, we will all be OK ... and we will all return to the France team to win that Euro," he concluded.
