The player-manager duo that conquered Spain and Europe looks to be rekindled, but in England this time.

Some very interesting transfer rumors, one regarding a top player and a top manager, have been doing the rounds since Thursday and early Friday.

According to a report by Spanish radio station COPE, Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola is set to leave Germany at the end of the season for English Premier League giants Manchester City.

The Spanish tactician, who rose to fame as one of Europe’s best manager during his time with Barcelona, has won two back-to-back Bundesliga titles, a UEFA Super Cup, and a FIFA Club World Cup since arriving at the Allianz Arena in 2013, but is ready to seek pastures new in England.

His contract with die Roten ends in 2016, but despite being offered a bumper new deal by the German giants to avoid seeing him walk away, Pep has turned it down and is free to talk to the Citizens in January.

Bayern Munich have even lined up a replacement for Guardiola in the form of former Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, but will not make a move for the Italian manager until Guardiola confirms whether he’ll be leaving Germany.

This, of course, means that City boss Manuel Pellegrini, who has two years remaining on his contract, will get the boot in order to make way for Guadiola, who is keen on reuniting Man City football director and close friend Txiki Begiristain.

To make these Guardiola to Bayern Munich rumors even more interesting, British tabloid The Sun claim that the mega-rich English side will break to bank in order to lure Barca superstar Lionel Messi to the Etihad.

The Argentine is reportedly ready to quit La Liga as he seeks refuge from persecution from the Spanish courts over tax evasion allegations, a charge which could land him behind bars if found guilty.

England is La Pulga’s preferred destination, and though some outlets suggest that Leo favors Arsenal, Man City have the financial capabilities to sign the four-time Ballon d’Or winner.

The Sun claims that the English giants are even ready to offer the 28-year-old a £800,000-per-week salary in order to prise him from the Blaugrana.
