Real Madrid will host Barcelona in the first Clasico of the season, with key players from both sides facing race against time to be fit for the big match. Among the players doubtful for the match is Argentinean star Lionel Messi who picked up a knee injury in a match against Las Palmas back in September.
However the mercurial forward has returned to training but it remains to be seen if he will be fit enough to start the match. Meanwhile midfielders Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets who have been so consistent this season have also returned to training and are likely to feature on Saturday. Brazilian international Rafinha on the other hand is likely to miss the majority of the season after damaging his ligaments during the match against Roma.
Real Madrid and Rafa Benitez have injury concerns of their own. Captain Sergio Ramos has been playing with a shoulder injury since September when he was taken off in the match against Shakthar Donetsk. He aggravated his injury after scoring a spectacular goal against Sevilla last time out, but is still likely to feature.
Karim Benzema who has scored in the last four home games against Barcelona is also set to return to the side. Whereas the likes of left back Marcelo as well as attacking midfielder Isco have returned to training as well and are likely to be in the squad.
One player who is expected to stay on the sidelines is goalkeeper Keylor Navas. The Costa Rican did not travel with the national side and was not able to train with the Real Madrid squad on Monday either. A late fitness test will determine his participation in Saturday's encounter.
Barcelona are currently top of the league, leading their counterparts on Saturday by three points. Anything other than a win may result Los Blancos to drop to third with Atletico Madrid trailing them by just a single point.
