For Chelsea to maintain a good chance of survival in this year’s Champions League campaign, they have to beat Dynamo Kyiv at the Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

With pressure mounting on The Blues to improve their recent performance, Jose Mourinho will most likely field a highly offensive team in an attempt to secure a crucial win. Almost five months ago, Mourinho’s men were literally unstoppable but have now become the whipping boys of the Premier League and registered an unconvincing performance at the Champions League so far.

If they fail to beat Dynamo Kyiv  on Wednesday, their hopes of advancing into the knock-out stage of the Champions League will be jeopardized. The Ukrainian outfit managed to secure a goalless draw in the first leg of the fixture at home against the West London side. Out of three Champions League matches, the English side has only managed to secure four points and are one point behind Dynamo. Mourinho’s former side FC Porto lead Group G with seven points out of a possible nine.

Team news

Chelsea

The embattled manager will miss the services of Pedro and Brainslav Ivanovic who are suffering from knee and hamstring injuries respectively. However, despite the recent poor performance, Brazilian forward Ramires has insisted that the team is fully behind their manager ahead of Wednesday’s fixtures.

Speaking to the club’s website, 28-years-old midfielder explained, "It is difficult because when we lose a game, everyone is sad in the dressing room.’’

"The manager didn't say anything [after the game] because it was not the time but on Sunday we had a conversation and he will show to us what we did in the game.

"We try to help him [Mourinho] on the pitch, we couldn't help him on Saturday but we will try every match to win because this is a group and a team and if we lose, Jose loses as well so we are all together.

"We need to play like we played before to win games."

Kurt Zouma and Cesar Azpilicueta will most likely boost Chelsea’s backline ahead of the match. Cesc Fabregas could return to the starting line-up after missing out in last weekend’s defeat against Liverpool. Pedro’s injury could give Hazard a starting role but goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will sit out out of the crunch tie due to injury.
