It is not the first time that Man City fans protest against UEFA. The Citizens won the game 2-1 over Sevilla.

Before the start of every game in the UEFA Champions League, the anthem of the competition plays as the players enter the field and people cheer for their teams. That did not happen in the game between Manchester City and Sevilla where a good number of Man City fans were heard booing as the anthem played.

It is yet unclear why they were doing so, but the truth is that there is a chance that UEFA could fine the club or the supporters involved in this. Manchester City officials have decided that they will not speak about the issue for now, unless its necessary down the road.

Kevin Parker, general secretary of the Manchester City Supporters club knows that the Citizen's fans do not like UEFA. He acknowledges the fact that this will not change anytime soon.

"Do Uefa seriously think the threat of sanctions is going to have an impact? Everybody has got a right to a freedom of expression. City fans are just using that right to say we don't like that tune and we don't like Uefa," Parker said.

The incident has been deatiled by match delegate Geir Thorsteinsson and disciplinary proceedings have now been opened. The case hearing will begin in November and Manchester City officials are expected to stand by their fans.

Last year, Citizens supporters lead a protest against UEFA after 650 CSKA Moscow supporters gained access to the Khimki Arena for their Champions League game. That game was supposed to be played behind closed doors and the fact that hundreds of Russian supporters got in, did not have Man City too happy.
