Georgia vs Scotland preview - September 4, 2015 fixture

Georgia will host Scotland in Tbilisi in a very important game of the Euro-Qualifiers with hopes of qualifying to the Euro Cup in France. For the home side, winning may be their only chance to keep those hopes alive. For Scotland, winning could even send over Germany in Group D depending on how Germany does against Poland.

Georgia's Team News

Georgia wants to get out of a three-game losing streak that has them with only three points after six games. Only Gibraltar is behind them without a single unit. In those three games, Georgia has not scored and they concerns about the future of their new coach are on the rise.

When both teams last met in October, Temuri Ketbaia was Georgia's manager. The losing streak that the team is going through started with him. His replacement, Kahkaber Tshkadadze was unable to win in his debut as well.

Not even playing at home works as an advantage for Ketbaia's team. They have not won a game in their last six competitive matches while playing at home. That record includes one draw and five losses. Also, Georgia has only scored once in those six games at home. Things do not look pretty for them against Scotland.

Scotland's Team News

The visiting team is on a much better situation. With 11 points in Group D, they are currently in third place but only three points behind Poland that is in first place. After losing to Germany in the opening day of qualifiers, they have not lost a single games (W3, D2).

Captain Scott Brown, midfielder Ikechi Anya and defender Russell Martin will most likely be ready to go by the time the whistle blows on Friday in Tbilisi. In three head to head games it is Scotland which holds a 2-1 advantage over Georgia. There haven't been any games ending in a draw between the two teams.

Disciplinary Report

For this game, Georgia will have to be careful with Murtaz Daushvili and Jaba Kankava. Both players have a yellow card in their record so being booked in this game will make them miss the next one against Ireland. Grant Hanley and midfielder James Morrison are the players with a yellow card for Scotland going into this game. Another yellow means they will at least miss the eighth game of the Euro Qualifiers.
