Costa Rica has a 36-10-12 record over El Salvador in head-to-head matches. Both teams tied in their Gold Cup opener.

After every team made their debut in the 2015 Gold Cup, no group is tighter than Group B where Costa Rica and El Salvador are at. Every team has one point leading into the second game of the competition and Costa Rica has a chance to prove they are really the better side in the competition.

Costa Rica is missing their star goalkeeper Keylor Navas who is out with an injury for the whole competition. Navas has actually already reported with Real Madrid to begin training for next season. Esteban Alvarado Brown is the man taking his spot and he struggled as Jamaica scored two goals on him in his debut.

Los Ticos were in control during most of the game, but they struggled to get past the Jamaican defense. They only had one more shot on goal (9-8) and only four of them were on target. Roy Miller and David Ramirez scored the two goals for Costa Rica. They had possession of the ball 56% of the time.

That was not enough to defeat the Reggae Boyz who just played the Copa America. The Jamaican squad scored two of their three shots on target. Paulo Wanchope must try to make some modifications in that sector of the field against a team from El Salvador that usually attacks with more ideas than Jamaica. They have a better control of the ball than Costa Rica's previous opponent.

El Salvador has only won 12 of the 58 games they have played against Costa Rica. This seems like a good opportunity for them to add another win as Los Ticos have not played at their full potential in quite a long time. The idea to switch coaches after the World Cup is has been costly for them.

The Salvadorian squad finished with a scoreless draw in their first game against Canada. They were surprised by the Maple Leaf country that even dominated the possession of the game (54%-46%). They had less opportunities on goal than their opponent and were even less accurate than Canada passing the ball.

Derby Carrillo had to save six shots from Canada to keep a clean sheet by the time the game ended. Heading into their second game, Alexander Larin is the only player with a yellow card that could miss the third game of the group stage is he gets another warning during this game.
